Another recent addition to Cuban cigars, Vegas Robaina was launched in 1997. A very underrated marca with some amazing medium to full strength cigars.
This brand is named after the one who in Cuba is considered the best veguero: Don Alejandro Robaina. He inherited a small property of 18 hectares in San Luis. Property that the state has just expanded by offering Don Alejandro a dozen additional hectares.
Paradox of the situation: Cuba wanted to pay homage to the private vegueros which constitute the backbone of the production of tobacco.
The Robaina family, specialized in the cultivation of capados leaves under tapados, obtains unique results. More than 70% of the production is approved for export; while most fincas rarely exceed 20 or 30%. On his own, Don Alejandro dresses more than a million Havanas!
